Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 August 2025
Your privacy is important to us. It is Hallam Confession's policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you across our website.
1. Information We Collect
We only ask for personal information when we truly need it to provide a service to you. We collect it by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent. The only personal information we may collect is what you voluntarily provide, such as social media links if you choose to share them. All confession text is treated as anonymous public content.
2. Data Ownership & Deletion
To provide features like the ability to delete your own posts, we use Firebase's Anonymous Authentication system. When you first visit the site, an anonymous, temporary user ID is created and stored in your browser. This ID is attached to any confessions you post.
This allows you to delete your own content while remaining completely anonymous to us and other users. If you clear your browser's data, this ID will be lost, and you will no longer be able to delete posts created with that ID.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to operate and maintain our website, to allow you to participate in interactive features, and to monitor the usage of our service. We do not share any personally identifying information publicly or with third-parties, except when required to by law.
4. Data Storage
Our website uses Firebase, a Google platform, for data storage. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
5. Cookies
We use cookies and your browser's local storage for functionality purposes, such as remembering which posts you have reacted to and your anonymous user ID. You can choose to disable cookies through your browser settings, but this may affect your ability to use some features of our website.
